A man was arrested last week and charged with attempted murder for a shooting that occurred in Glen Cove on Sept. 30, according to police.
On Oct. 13, the Glen Cove police and Nassau County homicide detectives arrested 28-year-old Darrin Sims of Hempstead and charged him with second-degree attempted murder for the home invasion and shooting that occurred at 1 Eldridge Pl. in Glen Cove late last month. During that violent home invasion, a 22-year-old Glen Cove man was shot in the chest while inside the residence, according to police. Sims was additionally charged with an unrelated home invasion-type robbery and burglary that occurred on Dec. 23, 2014 in Massapequa.
Police said Sims was arraigned on Oct. 14 in First District Court in Hempstead and is being held on $2 million bail. Authorities reported that a 20-year-old former Glen Cove resident, David Shuler, was arrested on Oct. 7 in connection with the home invasion and is being held at the Nassau County Correctional Center in East Meadow for burglary and robbery charges.
“The Glen Cove detective division and the Nassau County homicide detectives diligently worked the case together to arrest the alleged shooter in this violent home invasion,” said Det. Lt. John Nagle of the Glen Cove Police Department.
