Cheerleaders Place Second

The Glen Cove Varsity Cheerleaders went head-to-head with teams across Long Island at the Smithtown West Competition on Jan. 31.

IMG_2159.jpgAccording to coach Jessica Thompson, it has been a long and bumpy road for these girls, who have shown dedication, perseverance and strength.

In the words of captain Lila Nolan: “No other sport wants you to look pretty while screaming like a man, holding another person in the air, tossing them, catching them and smiling.”

Cheerleading is a tough sport, but Thompson said the girls made it look easy. Their dedication paid off, as they took home the second-place trophy. The next stop is the Cheer Extreme Nationals by the Sea in Virginia Beach this March.
