The Connolly School Student Council will be hosting a paper airplane fold and fly competition to support children with cancer. Students will pay an entry fee to participate, using special origami-type paper donated by Justin’s Toys. Prizes for longest distance were donated by former Glen Cove resident Julia Romero of the Klutz Toys company.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Spread the Magic Foundation, www.spreadthemagic.org. Chad Juros, professional magician and founder of the Spread the Magic Foundation, is a childhood cancer survivor who performs for pediatric cancer patients. Juros met and performed bedside for Connolly student and cancer survivor Carter Suozzi while he was hospitalized and on chemotherapy last summer.
If Connolly School reaches a pre-set fundraising goal by May 10, Juros will travel to Glen Cove later that month to reunite with Suozzi and perform a live magic show for the entire Connolly School. Consider making a tax-deductible donation by sending your check written to “Spread the Magic” to Connolly School, 1 Ridge Dr., Glen Cove, NY 11542.
