Connolly School students in Tara Pilewski’s third-grade class recently raised $1,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The charitable donation came to fruition after Pilewski tasked students with researching local charities on the computer. Each group took notes and wrote a speech to teach their classmates about what they had learned about their organization. The students then discussed what charity would benefit most from a donation and voted to raise funds to the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Students planned a breakfast sale to help raise money and with the help of Connolly’s parent volunteers raised close to $500 during this event. A special and secret helper decided to match that donation, allowing the students to donate $1,000.
The children also created thank you cards to Make-A-Wish volunteers for all of their hard work and dedication to help those who are sick.
