With a true tropical feeling of warm temperatures, an orange sunset, cocktails and real palm trees at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville, approximately 150 guests danced the night away and enjoyed each other’s company in the second annual fundraiser gala for the Cove Animal Rescue (CAR) on May 12. This year’s stories were shared on a job well-done in regard to all the successful animal adoptions that took place, as well as the major enhancements made to the shelter’s building.

According to CAR board member Betty Geiger, “The addition of spacious outdoor dog runs and home-like rooms for the cats improves the general well-being and adoptability of the animals.”

She said that Cove Animal Rescue has also increased staff hours to provide for greater socialization of the animals and increased availability to the public. During the brief speeches, the staff and volunteers were thanked for their exceptional compassion, devotion and reliability. Mayor Reginald Spinello was on hand to talk about the success of the shelter and thank all of those involved.
