Donald J. Albin CPT, USA (RET) of Glen Cove, died on May 18, 2015. Beloved husband of Marion “Mattie” McEntee-Albin, LTC, USA (RET). Loving step-father of Patrick (Allison), Andrew (Christina) and Deirdre McEntee. Adored grandfather of Rianna, William, Logan, Sally Rose and Ryan. Dear brother of Frederick, Michael (Lory) Albin and Ann (Michael) Nalveaiko. Dear brother-in-law of Lynn McDonald, niece Tegan, nephews CJ and Jesse. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins and the many wonderful friends that he knew through the Glen Cove and Manhasset communities, Marine Corps, United States Army and his business MacGregor Craftsman.
Donnie was a native of Glen Cove, born to Donald Joseph and Helen (Peet) Albin. He attended St. Louis University for one year, left and joined the Marines, where he served in Vietnam. During his tour he was awarded the Purple Heart. After his discharge, he returned to Glen Cove and continued his education. He earned a BA degree from CW Post and a MBA from St. John’s University. Donnie still had a passion to serve his country and he joined the United States Army, where he was selected to be a member of the Special Forces (Green Berets). Upon his military retirement, Donnie was a self-employed flooring contractor for MacGregor Craftsman.
Donnie lived his life to the fullest and he did it his way. He will be remembered for this patriotism and zest for life.
