Yousef Helo, a fifth-grade student at Sea Cliff School, has earned the title of Sea Cliff School Geography Bee Champion.
“As a culmination of the Sea Cliff School Geography Club, the school level competition of the National Geography Bee program involved 20 students and three different rounds of competition,” said Principal Chris Zublionis. “Students needed to answer questions on both United States and world geography and also needed to answer questions using maps and involving current events.”
Helo went on to take the state qualifying test, which may make him eligible for the New York State Geography Bee. Liam Brady, a fourth-grade student, finished in second place in the school bee. William Winchester, a fifth-grade student and Paul Pourakis, a fourth-grade student, finished in third place.
