The Glen Cove High School cheerleading team participated in the first Nassau County Championship at Wantagh High School on Feb. 21. The team was the runner-up in the Division II Small Varsity category, behind Clarke High School.
Glen Cove Cheerleading made history by qualifying and placing in the first-ever county tournament since cheerleading became a sport in New York State this school year. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association will be hosting the first state tournament on March 5 in Syracuse.
Glen Cove will be competing at the national level at the Cheer and Dance Extreme Grand National Championship in Virginia Beach on March 12.
