Glen Cove Re-Organization Meeting


The Glen Cove Board of Education held its annual re-organization meeting on Monday, July 6, at Finley Middle School.

Board trustee Maria Venuto was sworn in by attorney Larry Tannenbaum of Jaspan Schlesiner LLP

At the meeting, newly elected Board Trustee Maria Venuto was sworn into service by the district’s attorney Larry Tenenbaum of Jaspan Schlesinger LLP. Also sworn in were Richard Macccarone and Maureen Pappachristou. The pair was elected president and vice president, respectively, for the 2015-16 school year. Additional appointments included Ida Johnson as district clerk, Judy Smith as deputy clerk, Lori Carrick as district treasurer and Jackie Lizza as deputy treasurer.

After the re-organization meeting, the board held a regular board meeting, where it was announced that the district had appointed Pat Kuntzler as its interim special education director.

Richard Macccarone and Maureen Pappachristou were elected and sworn in as the board’s president and vice president for the 2015-16 school year.

According to Superintendent of Schools Maria Rianna, Kuntzler has an extensive background in special education, including serving as the executive director for the Henry Viscardi School at the Viscardi Center.
