On Tuesday, March 17, 14 Glen Cove High School students paired up to spend the day job shadowing a career of their interest. For more than 10 years, the City of Glen Cove Youth Bureau and the Glen Cove High School has collaborated to expose sophomore students to a typical work day experience of a desired career. During the five-hour work day, career mentors can share with the students what the job entails and provide insight into the skills and education required, as well as any pathways to obtaining those skills.
The businesses that partnered with Teens On the Job Shadow Day were: Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery and Aquarium, Glen Cove Police Department, Glen Cove Hospital, Long Island Academy of Fine Arts, Radio Shack and the View Grill.
Job Shadow is an annual program for sophomores; for more information about the program or other employment programs offered at the Glen Cove Youth Bureau, please contact Jacki Yonick at 516-671-4600.
