Those looking for an indulgent treat, morning or night, now have another local choice. Coco Moka opened its doors during the first week of January, a café that offers a variety of hot and cold specialty beverages, lunch and breakfast items and a wide range of confections, from fudge to gelato.
At 1 School St., Coco Moka is situated in a visible location, with lots of competition: Mar Le Café is directly across the street, Starbucks is a block away and Panera Bread is also within walking distance, places that all offer similar fare of gourmet coffees, pastries and sandwiches. This may not be a coincidence, as the store bills itself as a “unique alternative” to the more well-known brands. What sets this apart is the fact that it does offer breakfast all day and the selection of dessert items includes boxed truffles and “melted drinking chocolate.”
Some may already be familiar with the name and what they offer: the café is a franchise that also operates in Penn Station, near Amtrak. It was first launched in the late 1990s at Macy’s in Sacramento and has since expanded.
Prices start at around $3 for small gourmet coffee drinks; sandwiches range from $6.95 to $9.75 and smoothies are around $4. A kids menu and sides are also offered. All food is available to eat in or to go.
Coco Moka is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
