Kathryn D. Seaman, age 94, died on April 7, 2016, in Westerville, OH.
A native of Paris, IL, Kathryn attended Paris High School, Eastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois, earning a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling. She taught English at Oakland High School in Illinois and, after moving with her husband Robert to Glen Cove in 1953, she taught at Manhasset High School.
Kathryn was predeceased by Robert, her beloved husband of 66 years, in October 2012; previously by brothers James, Paul and John; more recently by sisters Margaret and Helen. She is survived by brothers Steve, Tim and Mike; daughter, Amy; and grandchildren Eleanor and Sam.
She served as a literacy volunteer tutor for 35 years and was active in Great Books and as a volunteer for Nassau County’s museum system, social services and Long Island Fair. Kathryn was outspoken, articulate and energetic: she helped many and will be remembered by all who knew her. She fought the good fight throughout her long life and inspired others to do the same.
Ever loved and sadly missed.
