Lodge Presents Scholarships And Awards

Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016, Order Sons of Italy in America recently awarded scholarships, Dante medals and a community service award at their last membership meeting. The scholarship night was well attended by state and lodge officers, members, dignitaries, as well as the parents and families of the scholarship and award recipients.

The Lorenzo Martone Family Perpetual Scholarship went to Elizabeth Capobianco; the Scholarship in Memory of Marianna Crescimanno went to Christopher Palmieri and Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Scholarship in Memory of Lisa Carrera went to Nicki Stanco.

The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by the Carrera family, went to Elena Stanco. The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by Kathryn and Angelo Grande, went to Alexandra Biolsi.

The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by Peggy and James McAleer, went to Mary Kate Guma.

The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by the Chiazzese, Milazzo and Sclafani families in Memory of Benedetto and Tommasa Milazzo, went to Mara Hammerschmidt.

The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Community Service Award, sponsored by Virginia and Angelo La Rosa, went to Tristan Vitale.

The dignitaries in attendance were:  Carolyn Reres, president, New York State Order Sons of Italy in America; Sen. Carl Marcellino; Assemblyman Charles Lavine, represented by Michael Zangari; Leg. Delia DeRiggi Whitton; Mayor Reginald Spinello; Glen Cove City Court Judge Richard McCord and Assemblyman Edward Ra.
