Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016, Order Sons of Italy in America recently recognized scholarship, Dante Medal and community service awards at its membership meeting.
There were several 2016 New York State Grand Lodge Foundation Scholarship recipients.
Kevin Grande received the Angelo & Kathryn Grande Scholarship in Memory of Rose and Frank Della Ratta and the Angelo & Kathryn Grande Scholarship in Memory of Angelina & Ignatius Grande; Lia Stanco received the Michael and Elizabeth Carrera Scholarship in Memory of Lisa Carrera, the District II Presidents’ Scholarship in Memory of Lisa Carrera and the Agnes and John Funk Scholarship in Memory of Sam DiTrapani; Julia Albanese received the Enrico Fermi Scholarship in Memory of Pietro Scalamandre and the Paul Agnello Scholarship in Memory of Fina Agnello; Alexandra Cefalu received the Martone Family Scholarship in Memory of Lorenzo Martone and the Michael Valente Lodge No. 2667 Ed Buscemi Scholarship and Winston DeMartini received the Ascatigno, Guarino, Marino Rockland County Educational Grant, the Michael & Betty Santoro Grant in Memory of Angelina Santoro and the Matthew DiFiore Grant. The Graduate Scholarship Recipient was Jonathan Galati, who received the Edward Innella Family Graduate Scholarship in Education and the Peter R. Zuzolo Jr. Memorial Scholarship for Science Engineering or Technology.
This year the following local scholarships and awards were presented: The Lorenzo Martone Family Perpetual Scholarship was presented to Lia Stanco; The Scholarship in Memory of Marianna Crescimanno was presented to Domenick Stanco, Jr.; The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by the Carrera Family was presented to Dayra Priscilla Panarello; The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by Kathryn and Angelo Grande was presented to Isabella Alessandrini; The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by Peggy and James McAleer was presented to Paige Bonavito and The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Community Service Award, sponsored by Virginia and Angelo LaRosa, was presented to Isabella Alessandrini; The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Community Service Award at Glen Cove High School was presented to Christian Filipone and the Loggia Glen Cove No.1016 Community Service Award at Locust Valley High School was presented to Arthur Babcock.
