New Building Initiative

The Gold Coast Library Board received notification on Nov. 2 that Halm Industries has elected to exercise its contractual right to terminate the purchase contract for the Halm Property that it has with the library. This development necessitates that the long-planned building initiative will end without a public referendum.
The library’s down payment of $100,000, plus interest, which was put into escrow is in the process of being returned to the library.

We would like to thank the entire community for its patience and participation over the past year. The feedback received through meetings, focus groups and your comments, both positive and negative, have helped the board develop a better understanding of the needs and desires of the community. As the library moves into its second decade of operation, the information learned from this process is invaluable.

Since opening in 2005, the Gold Coast Public Library Board and staff have taken great pride in working every day to provide its community with excellent library services at a reasonable cost. We look forward to continuing to serve the needs of the community, as we plan for the present and the future.

For questions, comments and concerns, please contact the library’s director, Mike Morea, by email at or by phone at 516-759-8300 x102
