New Prez For Hospital Auxiliary

By Ros Starer

On Jan.13, more than 50 members of the Glen Cove Hospital Auxiliary attended their annual luncheon at La Bussola Restaurant, at which time the new executive board, headed by president Alice Armstrong, was installed.
Outgoing president Joy Leale welcomed all, introduced the guests and delivered the state-of-the-auxiliary-report. Notable news: in 2015 the total number of volunteer hours was approximately 23,000; and through the fundraising efforts, the auxiliary was able to donate equipment totaling $27,425. Northwell Health has increased newspaper coverage of the expanded services the local hospital now provides, for kidney stone problems, colon cancer screening, breast cancer treatment as well as reconstructive surgery and various therapies offered by the Rehabilitation Unit.

1137Leale closed by thanking her listeners for their confidence in her stating she was honored to have served as president. A great lunch and informative meeting was enjoyed by all.
