Recognition Highlights Glen Cove Board Meeting

Outgoing Glen Cove City School District Board of Education President Richard Maccarone and trustee Grady Farnan were thanked for their tireless service on behalf of Glen Cove students and the community at the June 20 BOE meeting.

“They work on weekends, they work well into the evenings, especially every other Monday night and at special board meetings,” Superintendent Dr. Maria Rianna said. “And I appreciate all of the work, all of the support and all of the commitment that both of these board members have shown.”

Farnan and Maccarone each served as board trustees for six years and will vacate their seats on June 30, after opting not to rerun for their current positions.

Also recognized at the meeting was Glen Cove High School English teacher Lauren Jensen, who received the Milken Educator Award in the fall.

After the recognition was concluded, principals from each school in the district presented site based committee reports for their respective school buildings. The building leaders discussed efforts to build character education, cultivating leadership skills, student decorum and improvements to facilities.
