In a tight race for mayor of Glen Cove, incumbent Mayor Reggie Spinello defeated Tim Tenke by 21 votes in Tuesday’s election, according to the unofficial results available as of press time. As of Wednesday morning, Spinello received 2,651 votes and Tenke received 2,630 votes, with all 19 precincts reporting, though there are likely still absentee ballots to count. No official statements had been made by either candidate as of press time regarding the results.
In the Glen Cove City Council election, five of the six candidates on the Republican ticket with Spinello won a seat. Keeping her place on the council is Pamela D. Panzenbeck, the top vote getter, with 2,630 votes, followed by newcomer Kevin P. Maccarone with 2,613, incumbents Joseph Capobianco (2,581) and Nicholas A. DiLeo, Jr. (2,538) and newcomer Michael Zangari (2,409). Marsha F. Silverman received 2,299 votes, placing her as the lone Democratic candidate on the council.
The race for Nassau County Legislator for the 11th District was not as close, with incumbent Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, a Democrat, taking the win over Republican opponent Zefy Christopoulos by a 69 percent margin.
