We have lived in Glen Cove since 1972, had three children go through the Glen Cove schools and currently have six grandchildren in the schools. I am sure that in the first half of last century when Landing, Deasy and the middle school were built, the taxpayers had concerns. And in the second half of the century when Connolly, Gribbon and the high school were built, I am sure there was resistance. But the schools and the town have survived and continue to grow. Upgrading of these facilities is absolutely necessary for the town, the children and the schools to continue to grow and prosper.
We urge you to vote yes for this program. There is a Chinese proverb which says: “if you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate a child.”
