The Youth Bureau Gets A New Look

The Glen Cove Youth Bureau is undergoing a transformation. Thanks to the artistic talent of Glen Cove After 3 Program Coordinator Jane Fein and teenagers participating in the Glen Cove Youth Bureau’s Summer Youth Employment Program, a new mural adorns the walls of the Youth Bureau. Fein outlined the mural, which includes a friendship tree, depictions of courage and caring and a “GCYB” graffiti wall. She then set the students free to paint it and make it their own.

YouthBureau_081016BThis was the final project of the summer for the 14- and 15-year-old “Green Team” students who have been busy all summer sprucing up Glen Cove. The students have painted the computer room at the Youth Bureau, Pryibil Beach Pier and the green fence at Maccarone Stadium. They also scraped, primed and base coated the wall along the highway for the new city mural, maintained the community gardens and held two drives at local supermarkets to collect school supplies and pantry items for needy students and their families.
