We can think of no one we would rather have representing our own children and all the children of the North Shore district than Toni Labbate. Public education has never been under more pressure, and we need leaders who can work to protect taxpayers with a constant eye to the future of our schools.
We first met Toni when our children attended the Roslyn Trinity Coop pre-school. As president there, she worked tirelessly for child-centered education. She continued to work in leadership positions as we all moved on to the North Shore schools. She has continued to focus on children while a trustee on the North Shore Board of Education. In particular, she has protected our students, our budget and our curriculum from the excesses of state-imposed testing. Further, she has extensive experience advocating to protect taxpayers throughout the demolition of the LIPA plant.
Our community can be divided on educational issues, but Toni has always worked to bridge that divide. Please join us in voting for the district budget and Vice President Toni Labbate on May 19.
