World Series Learning Fun

Second-grade students at Gribbin School in Glen Cove commemorated the New York Mets’ trip to the World Series with classroom activities that highlighted the team’s outstanding achievement while reinforcing the school’s curriculum.

Dressed in the trademark Mets colors of orange and blue, the children rotated between three classes to create their own baseball cards, an exercise that included measuring their own height and writing personal information about themselves.

Other activities included alphabetizing the Mets players’ last names and sorting the team’s individual averages from greatest to least.

Second-grade teachers and Met fans Coleen Brunhuber, Amy Gallo and Mark Glaviano worked together to organize the day’s events.
