Morgan Park Summer Music Festival will present Young Performers in Concert on Sunday, July 10, featuring the winners of this year’s talent competition. This evening’s event will also include the Glen Cove High School Select Chorale, which performed for Pope Benedict in Rome earlier this year.
The talent competition winners include Katharine Brady, voice; Siobhan Esposito, piano; Dylan Wu, cello and Cici Fader, piano.
Brady is a 17-year-old student at Manhasset High School. She has participated in and played lead roles in many school and community theatrical productions, including Hello Dolly (Dolly) and Bye, Bye Birdie (Kim). Brady has received awards from NYSTEA, All-County and Select Ensemble.
Esposito of Sea Cliff is a 16-year-old student at North Shore High School. A classically-trained musician who received a perfect score in NYSSMA’s Classical Piano awards, she also performs in her school’s jazz band and has appeared in the NYSSMA Music Festival and the Litchfield Jazz Camp Music Festival.
Wu of Manhasset is a 12-year-old student at Shelter Rock Elementary School. At the age of 9, he was admitted to The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division. Wu received two awards at Russia’s ninth International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Performers and was also the grand-prize winner of the American Fine Arts Festival International Concerto Competition.
Fader is a 12-year-old student at Jericho Middle School. Her many accomplishments include a solo piano recital at East Meadow Library, a second place win in the NY Music Competition, a Gold Award win in the Town of Oyster Bay’s Talent Contest and an honorable mention in the Bradshaw & Bruno International Piano Competition.
The free concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Morgan Park overlooks the harbor at Germaine Street between Landing Road and McLoughlin Street in Glen Cove. Bring chairs or blankets, and a picnic if you wish.
