Fugitive Arrested In Glen Cove


A man was arrested Monday in Glen Cove for a sexual assault crime involving a child that occurred two weeks ago in New Jersey, police said.

According to Det. Lt. John Nagle of the Glen Cove Police Department, the department was contacted by the New York/New Jersey Fugitive Task Force on April 10 regarding a possible fugitive who had recently fled to Glen Cove from New Jersey.

Santiago Gonzalez-Ruiz was arrested Monday, April 13, for allegedly having sexual contact with a child in New Jersey before fleeing to Glen Cove.

Earlier today, the Task Force met with GCPD, requesting assistance in locating this fugitive, who was wanted for aggravated sexual assault upon a person less than 13 years old.

The crime occurred in New Jersey and involved sexual contact involving a 7-year-old child.

The Task Force proceeded to 41 Prospect Ave. in Glen Cove, at which time the defendant was located in a side yard and was arrested by Nagle and Det. Karl Van Allen.

The defendant is identified as Santiago Gonzalez-Ruiz (age 57). The defendant will be placed in the Nassau County Jail awaiting further legal proceedings.

According to Nagle, the defendant was in Glen Cove less than two weeks before his arrest today.
