Students, administrators and community members showed off their Big Red pride when they gathered for Glen Cove High School’s annual homecoming parade and game.
The homecoming parade kicked off at Gribbin Elementary School and included children from all six of the district’s school buildings, as well as class floats creatively depicting this year’s theme, “Make ’Em Sore.” Student senate adviser Ellen Lynch said the theme was a play on words based on Glen Cove’s homecoming day opponent, the Golden Eagles of Bethpage High School.
The parade concluded at Glen Cove High School, with athletic director Denise Kiernan welcoming board members, alumni and fans to the game. Prior to kickoff, the varsity football team ran through a “Make ’Em Sore” sign placed in the end zone. The Knights came out strong, leading Bethpage during the first half.
Performances by the drumline, varsity cheerleaders, band and kickline were featured at halftime, as was the crowning of homecoming king Christian Guevara and queen Erin Moore.
