The Glen Cove Hospital Auxiliary held the fifth annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on Sunday, June 12, at St. Rocco’s in Glen Cove.
Once again, the event was chaired by board member Julie Albin, who, along with the committee, said they were thrilled to welcome a large gathering of well-dressed ladies, most of them wearing beautiful hats.
They were served a wonderful assortment of delicious homemade sandwiches, Irish soda bread and pots of tea.
The highlight of the afternoon was the parade of hats; there were three categories to compete in, including the Most Beautiful, won by Marilyn Sangenito, Josephine Grella and Kate Capobianco; the Most Creative, won by Angie Carbone, Alba Samperisi and Donna Christ; and the Silliest, won by Binnie Meagher, Maria Simmons and Cecile Bartkas. All the ladies were awarded prizes for the wonderful hats that they wore.
The afternoon ended with more tasty treats as trays of cookies and pasties were handed out.
It takes many people to organize such a great event and the auxiliary extended thanks to all who helped: the wonderful ladies from St. Rocco’s church, Father Elias for the use of the hall, the Scouts and other volunteers who helped serve the attendees and to local merchants and members who donated so many gifts, which made the raffle a huge fundraiser.
