North Shore Homecoming Highlights

It was a gorgeous autumn day for the North Shore Schools 2019 Homecoming Celebration on Saturday, October 19th. From toddlers to senior residents, the Homecoming Fan Fest offered something fun for everyone! Thank you to the entire North Shore community for making this day a huge success! In addition, congratulations to the NS Vikings Football team for triumphing over Mineola, 33-6!

To kick-off the day, numerous K-12 students, faculty, parents, and community members, enthusiastically participated in a wonderful Homecoming Carnival with fun games for all ages. New this year was Virtual Reality, Chalk the Walk, and Surf Sensation which were all a big hit! Other favorites included inflatables, face painting, a photo booth, the obstacle course, DJ, hula-hoop games, tug-of-war, and much more! For hours, children of all ages and adults happily engaged in the numerous fun activities. Throughout the day, administrators including Superintendent Giarrizzo and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Dr. Zublionis, could be seen on the new Virtual Reality Pods, while Assistant Superintendent for Business, Ms. Buatsi, and Dr. Giarrizzo were spotted in a hula hooping contest with the younger children! Additionally, all of the principals were in attendance chatting with their students. But, that wasn’t all! Trustees unveiled a big Bond tent filled with lots of information including large architectural drawings of our schools and conversed with parents and residents about the various district-wide projects in the upcoming 2019 Bond Referendum.

During the Homecoming Fan Fest, you could see the joy on everyone’s faces as everyone joined in the fun. A big “thank you” goes out to the Athletic Booster Club members who grilled delicious food for everyone to enjoy and worked hard at the concession stand. Cheers to the Parent Organizations along with high school classes who sold various North Shore merchandise in support of our schools and programs. Also, many thanks to the Homecoming Committee, the parent associations, the Arts Angels, the Athletic Booster Club, Kiwanis Club, Board of Education, administrators, and members of the SGO and NS Key Club for a wonderful day!

At 1:15 PM, the large crowd moved into Stadium Field for the pre-game show including the Fun Run, Football Clinic, Pulse dance performances, cheerleaders, and the exciting Viking Football game. David Soto, the High School Band Conductor, led the band and drum line in numerous popular songs that set the upbeat tone for the afternoon. At 2 PM, the Vikings took to the field to a thunderous round of applause by all those in the stands. Congratulations go out to the Vikings Football team and their coaches for an exciting victory, beating Mineola in an action-packed, high-scoring game, 33-6!
