The Glen Cove Police Department announced staggered road closings on Sunday, Sept. 1 to ensure the publics safety during the Nicholas Pedone Foundation’s 5K Event.

The staggered road closures will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the entrance to Glen Cove High School on Dosoris Lane and follow with the closing of Lattingtown Road, Old Tappan Road and Walnut Road (ending at Sugar Maple Lane). Each stretch of roadway should be closed for approximately 15-20 minutes with all roads being fully reopened by 10:30 a.m.

The seventh annual Nicholas Pedone 5K run is held every September to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. An award ceremony will also take place on the football field along with music, refreshments and snacks. The race will be benefiting the Nicholas Pedone Foundation, an organization which provides smiles for courageous children battling the terrible disease of cancer.

The Nicholas Pedone 5K is a USA Track and Field certified course and sanctioned event. Baby strollers and baby joggers are permitted on the course. However they must line up in the back.
